Certification and approval of annual accounts for 2021-22

Regulation 15(1) of the Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations 2014 (as amended) requires that Responsible Financial Officer of Connah’s Quay Town Council sign and date the statement of accounts, and certify that it properly presents Connah’s Quay Town Councils’ receipts and payments for 2021-2022.

The Regulations required that this be completed by 30 June 2022.

The Responsible Financial Officer has not signed and certified the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2022, this is due to a transition period between appointing a new Clerk and the previous Clerk leaving employment.  The statement of accounts will be prepared and the Responsible Financial Officer will sign and certify the statement of accounts when the new Clerk is appointed.

Regulation 15(2) of the Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations 2014 (as amended) requires that following the certification by the Responsible Financial Officer referred to above, the Council must approve the accounts. The Regulations require that this be completed by 30 June 2022.

The Council has been unable to meet to approve the accounts as the Responsible Financial Officer has not yet certified the accounts due to the reasons outlined above.
