Christmas Fayre 2020

We are sorry to say that due to the current restrictions in place to try to stop the spread of coronavirus, this year’s Christmas Fayre has been cancelled.

The event was due to take place on Friday 27th November and usually coincides with the switching on of the town’s Christmas tree lights. It is always a popular event with the local community with festive music and entertainment helping to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

The decision to cancel this year’s event was not taken lightly but with the current restrictions in place the Council felt there was no alternative. A Council spokesperson said:

“This event always brings the town together at such a special time so it is a real shame that it can’t go ahead this year. With the virus having such a significant impact on everyone’s lives, the safety of our community is paramount and so we took the decision to cancel the event with a heavy heart. We will start planning for next year in the hope that we can make it bigger and better than ever before.”.

Festive lighting will still be installed along the High Street from mid-November and we will still light up our tree.
